Body Merry Age Defense Eye Cream Review

One of the biggest concerns I have is about the skin around my eyes.  For years I have tried many different types of eye creams, lotions and potions.  I had yet to find one that I believed in.  I never re-bought an eye cream.  None have lived up to the hype.  That is until I was approved by Body Merry to test their Age Defense Eye Cream.

Body Merry has devised their eye cream with Vitamins C, E and B5, peptides, retinol and hyaluronic acid.  They've also added antioxidants, minerals and plant oils.  This eye cream is free from parabens, sulfates and phthalates.  It is proudly made in the USA in an advanced cruelty free, FDA registered and GMP compliant facility.

The packaging is a simple plastic dispenser.  The pump allows for a precise amount of product.  One pump was enough for both my eyes.  The scent is light and fragrant, I love it. The eye cream is luscious and has a whipped feel to it.  The eye cream was readily absorbed after patting it along my under-eye area.  There was no residue or flaking of the eye cream and it help up to my concealer.

I was skeptical of this eye cream as I am of most that I try for the first time.  I was pleasantly surprised that it did not irritate my eyes or leave my under-eye skin dry.  After 3 weeks of using this eye cream twice a day I did notice a plumping of my skin in the crow's feet area.  The lines were less visible.  The most noticeable was the brightening effect this eye cream had on my whole under-eye area.  My eyes look more vibrant and less haggard. Yes, I look younger!

Will I buy this eye cream again?  You bet I will.  It is my belief that my under-eye area will continue to improve as I use this age defying eye cream.

What eye cream do you use?  Are you happy with the results?

I Was Called the BIG Lady

Just yesterday I was walking through a store, browsing at different items minding my own business.  I was humming along to the muzak being piped through the store.  Out of nowhere I heard a loud tiny voice saying "Look at the big lady", saw a small finger pointing at me and a Mother desperately trying to shut her child up.  I looked over at them, smiled, shrugged and continued on my way.

It was a first for me.  I've never been called "the big lady" before.  I don't blame the child, he was only stating what he observed.  I'm only 5'4", so I know he wasn't referring to my height.  I do weigh 190 pounds as of this morning.  I wear a size 14.  No excuses as to why I arrived at this weight.  Only good eating, drinking and little exercise.

I've written numerous posts about my weight and how I'm going to change things:

Are Carbs the Enemy?

5:2 Diet ~ The Fast Diet

How Do You Unstick the Scale?

Unfortunately I have lost, gained, lost and gained again.

I have recently joined a group of ladies who all have the same goals in mind.

  1. Clean, healthy eating.
  2. Daily exercise or some form of movement.
  3. Sharing our daily work outs, what we've eaten, and how much water we've consumed.
  4. Engaging with each other and offering positive reinforcements.
  5. Posting photos and measurements monthly.
  6. Acknowledging that "Together We are Stronger"
We began on July 21st and will continue for 90 days.  The commitment to the women in the group has kept me focused.  I've never attempted weight loss at this level.  Having to take and post photos in a sports bra and panties is quite humbling.

I have cleaned up my eating habits and lost 4 lbs.  I am exercising at least 25 minutes every day and feel much stronger.  I have a long way to go, but with a little help from my friends I know that I will succeed this time.

My goal is to be a healthy 160 or size 10 by 6/25/15.  My 50th birthday.  I've shared this with the group.  That's 1 lb a week.  I'm a bit behind, but consciously working on it.

I'm trying to refocus on size versus weight because, at least for me, that's more important.

Have you lost weight?  What have you tried in the past?  What has worked for you?

A Chance to Live Another Day

One day in June, My Love and I were driving home after a wonderful birthday lunch. We were chatting and singing to the radio, enjoying the ride.  Have you ever been in a state of such bliss and happiness that the outside world seems a distant memory? Simply focused on the here and now, without distraction?  We were there.

And then we saw a car at a dead stop in the road just ahead.  What happened in seconds seemed to last for much longer. Everything began to roll in slow motion.

My Love slammed on the brakes, realized that we were going to slam, at 65 miles per hour, into not just one car, but three or four cars. By the grace of God and quick reflexes he managed to swerve to the left onto a grassy median.  As we plowed through tall grass and weeds hearing plunks, dings and slapping, we passed the cars and swerved back onto the road to safety.

Our hearts pounding with adrenaline, we were both quite shook up.  We just looked at each other and shook our heads knowing that we were for some reason given another chance at life.  I laughed, cried and then laughed again.  My emotions were scattered and I was desperately trying to hold it together.  I know full well that if we would have run into those cars we wouldn't be here right now.

We made it home in one piece and we both lived another day.

I haven't told anyone about this incident.  I am still raw and bothered by it.  It is something I think about every day and probably will continue to think about for a long time.

I have unanswered questions floating around in my mind about the reasons that we are still here to walk on this earth.  Why we were so fortunate to be spared and allowed to carry on and continue living our lives.

My thought process has much changed since that day.  I feel as though I have been given another chance at managing and improving my life.

My life could have been over on that sweet, sunny day.  And I wonder about those I would have left behind.

Have you ever experienced a moment in your life when you thought it was over, but somehow you were spared?

Australian Tea Tree Oil Review

Tea tree oil has been used by the aboriginal people for hundreds of years.  It is extracted from the Melaleuca Alternifonia (or tea tree) native to Australia.

Traditionally tea tree oil has been used as a topical antiseptic and anti-fungal treatment for the skin and nails.  If tolerated, tea tree oil can be applied full strength and applied directly to the area needing treatment.  For sensitive skin this oil can be diluted in water.  It should never be ingested.

To maintain it's potency, tea tree oil should always be sold in a dark glass bottle.

Apothecary Extracts Tea Tree Oil is one of the first producers to be accredited under the Australian Tea Tree Industry Association Code of Practice.  Apothecary Extracts have tests proving their Tea Tree Oil's purity and potency.  It is undiluted and without impurities.

About a week ago I managed to cut my big toe with a shovel.  While digging in the yard I set the shovel down so that I could take a rest. Rather than resting the shovel against the fence as I thought I set it down on my big toe.  I didn't think I cut it at first.  I tried to brush off the dirt from my toe and then saw the blood.  (Digging with flip-flops was my first mistake...)  I ran to the bathroom and I remembered the Tea Tree Oil.  After cleaning with soap and water, I used the Tea Tree Oil over the cut and applied a bandage.  I was extremely worried about infection setting in.  By the next morning the cut was scabbing over and looking and feeling great.  My skin is tolerant to most topical agents and there were no negative side effects for me.

There are many uses for Tea Tree Oil and Apothecary Extracts includes a Free Recipe Guide.  This is in e-book form which I prefer as it takes up no space and is easy to refer to as needed.

Have you tried Tea Tree Oil?  What did you use it for?

Skin Exfoliators ~ Should you be using one?

Having reached a certain age, my skin seems to be dull and lifeless.  Searching for a way to energize and brighten my skin I found a few products that have helped me achieve a more even glowy look.  Using each of these products for a few weeks I was able to see and feel results...if any.

Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant  here

  1. BHA (Salicylic Acid) increases collagen production for smoother skin.
  2. Proven to reduce acne and blackheads.
  3. Extracts of green tea help soothe skin with repairing antioxidants.
  4. Helps to calm redness and rosacea.
This  liquid is strong.  I have tough Italian skin and this was too much for my skin.  After applying with a cotton pad I felt a tacky residue on my skin.  I have used it a few times to make sure the tackiness wasn't just a one time issue.  No, it's every time.  I don't like the way this liquid makes my skin feel, so it's a no go for me.

WEI Pomegranate Buffing Beads here

  1. An authority on Chinese herbal beauty invented these single use dry scrub exfoliating packets.  Made with pomegranate peel, gentle buffing beads and other natural ingredients.
  2. Pomegranate long admired for its detoxifying powers is filled with antioxidants that will brighten skin tone, encourage cell renewal, and also help clear blocked pores.
  3. Blend the single serving packet with your favorite skin cleanser for a renewing skin cleanse.
These beads are magical.  Each individual package has just the perfect amount to add to your trusted cleanser for a deep cleansing that whisks away dead, tired skin.  I love this product.  No matter which cleanser I choose, and I switch around quite often, these beads add an extra level of cleansing.  I especially like to use this in the evening.  It leaves my skin ready to accept my Retin-A and reach down deep into the skin layers.

The Aloe Source Jojoba Radiance Cleansing Polish here

  1. Sulfate free cleanser effectively removes makeup, oil, and impurities.
  2. Gently exfoliates with a combination of jojoba microbeads, alpha and beta hydroxy acids, while nourishing aloe vera soothes the skin for a healthy radiant glow.
  3. While cleansing the jojoba beads gently polish away the loosened skin cells and skin debris while increasing circulation, while leaving skin with a healthy looking radiant glow.
  4. Rich in vitamins, minerals, amino acids and enzymes that nourish smooth and soften the skin.
This cleansing polish is wonderful.  It effectively cleanses my skin and leaves it feeling silky smooth.  Although this cleansing polish is effective at exfoliating my skin, I sometimes feel like my skin isn't quite as clean as it could be.  There is often a slickness to my skin that leads me to believe no matter how much I rinse, there will always be a bit of residue left on my skin.

suki exfoliate foaming cleanser here

  1. Gently get rid of dirt, oil and makeup with organic lemongrass and chamomile and wipe away old layers of skin with non-abrasive sugar.
  2. The alpha-hydroxy acids in raw sugar gently buff away dead layers of skin and excess oils without stripping your skins natural moisture.
  3. Infused with the fresh scent of lemon your skin feels refreshed.
Of the 4 products I've introduced, I have to say this is my favorite.  It takes only a dime size amount to produce a foamy scrub that offers cleansing and exfoliating in one gentle effective step.  This rinses off easily while leaving my skin ready for the next steps in my skin care routine.  And the smell is heavenly.

So, the question still is ~ Should you be using a skin exfoliator?  Yes, I think you should. The difficult part is searching for one that works for your skin.

Do you use and exfoliator?  Share your favorites with me.  I'd like to know what others are out there.
