Perfecting with BB Cream

I'll be the first to admit:  Uneven skin tone is one of my biggest concerns right now.  The smooth dewy skin of my youth seems out of reach.  No matter how many peels, scrubs and potions I use, I always have mild skin discoloration on my forehead and cheekbones.

I am fully aware that being a sun-worshiper for over 20 years is the culprit for these dark spots.  I use retin-a every other day and hydroquinone daily for a few months with breaks in between.  IPL  (intense pulse light) laser treatments are also part of the treatment plan. It's a work in progress.  I will continue to stay out of the sun, use sunscreen and continue my quest for a smoother more uniform skin tone.

One of the newest and best products I have found to help camouflage these discolorations, thanks to Birchbox is Marcelle BB Cream Golden Glow.  Available in a universally flattering shade,

this multitasking BB cream has 8 skin enhancing benefits.  Flecked with tiny, light-reflecting self-adjusting pigments, powerful antioxidants, aloe and chamomile does it all for your skin:

  1. Provides a healthy glow effect with just the right hint of illumination
  2. Evens out skin tone
  3. Offers immediate and long-term hydrating benefits
  4. Protects from premature aging and environmental stresses
  5. Promotes skin regeneration
  6. Soothes and calms
  7. Reduces the appearance of imperfections
  8. Controls shine
Perfect for those with sensitive skin, this beauty balm is hypo-allergenic, perfume and oil free.

I find that one pump gives enough coverage for me.  Using my fingers I smooth the beauty balm over my clean, moisturized skin making sure to blend thoroughly.  It's like a miracle, covering my imperfections quite nicely and without a heavy artificial look.
For $ 10 per month you can try Birchbox and begin to receive cutting edge product samples too.

Are you using a BB cream?  Tell me about it.  If you're wondering how old your skin is, I found a simple quiz you can take to find out.

  1. I don't use a BB cream regularly, although I've tried a few samples. I use a tinted moisturizer mixed with sunscreen and that gives me decent coverage, especially in the summer. I've noticed that less makeup is more as I've gotten older!

    1. This is the best bb cream I've tried by far. I really like the glow it imparts on my face. Also not having to find a color match is a huge plus. Yes, less is definitely more.

  2. I have never tried a bb cream yet ! For now I just do oil of olay lotion and then bare minerals priming lotion followed by bare minerals powder! Looks like an awesome find to get in your birchbox !!

    1. Michelle, it was a great find. The sample size was enough to last me a full month. It is so much simpler to use than a primer and powder. Thanks for stopping by.

  3. I have never heard of BB Cream and oh, am I ever conscious of my skin. Melanoma does that to a person! (believe it or not, I say that with a smile on my face. I'm a survivor, after all.) It sounds like a fabulous product though. I'll need to find out more. Is there an SPF in it?

PS - I doubt you can see my pom poms, but I am a Group 13 Spring Fling cheerleader. :-) She could definitely use some BB cream! Woot!!

    1. Awesome that you are able to smile about beating melanoma. Unfortunately, there is no SPF in the BB cream. Using a bit before applying the product works great for me and does not alter the consistency of the product. No, I cannot see the pom-poms, but I love the visual. Thanks for visiting.

  4. I am pretty cautious about sun on my face, but I have to admit I'm not when it comes to the rest of me. I enjoy a day at the beach but like to think I don't bake myself regularly. I like to use hats and visors to shield my face - still can't get used to greasy sunscreen.

    1. Like you,, I'm not so diligent about the sun on my body. I don't like sunscreen either, but I try to use it when I know I'll be out in the sun and I don't want to wear a hat. Thanks for stopping by.
