Monday's Motivation

These are the words that will motivate me this week.

Taking the first step is sometimes the most difficult.  Mondays are my opportunity to take another first step toward a healthier me!

This is Week 7 on my new lifestyle.

Clean Eating
I am continuing on the clean eating plan and doing well.  I've added smoothies as my mid-morning snack.  They are yummy and packed with healthy ingredients.  I use a handful of fresh spinach, 2 Tbsp of ground flax, 1 scoop Designer Whey protein powder, 1/2 - 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk and 1/2 - 1 cup frozen fruit.

Initially I was having 2 cheat meals per week.  Although I love this idea, it is too much for me.  I am cutting back to 1 cheat meal per week.  I think this will work better for me.

Work Outs
I haven't been exercising.  I've used my bum knee as an excuse, but I could still be working on my upper body.  So, I'm on it for the coming week.  I have a Dr's appointment on Wednesday to get to the bottom of the knee situation.

  1. Congratulations on your progress so far, Barbara. I've tried to eat clean - I have the book and the cookbook - but I haven't tried very hard. It can be overwhelming, but I should keep that quote in mind. Focus on one step at a time. Have a great week!

    1. Thanks Dana. Eating clean requires loads of preparation and cooking. I'm doing very basic foods right now. I'll probably be ready to begin looking for recipes as the weeks go n. I try to remind myself that I have to take just one step at a time.

  3. I loved what you used for inspiration. It's a perfect perspective. We need to remember that we don't get to the finish line until we start heading towards it.

    1. Agreed, if only I could keep the one step at a time mantra in my mind. I'm afraid I'm like most, looking for instant gratification. I have to continually remind myself of this .

  4. I love the stairway quote!

Green smoothies are one of my absolute favorites. I drink them every day when I'm working (I commute, so they're the perfect breakfast). I use a small amount of mango, pineapple, and banana and call them "sunrise smoothies." :)

    1. Sounds yummy. I have used mango, but I've never tried pineapple. I'll have to give it a go. Thanks for the tip.

    1. Thank you Ugeena, I've read about using kale in a smoothie. I may have to give it a whirl.

  6. I've definitely been struggling with where I'm going in life. I'm searching for a job and the constant rejection letters make me wonder if I'll ever get anywhere in life!! This was definitely motivating! I may not know where I'm going or where I'm suppose to end up, but I have to keep taking it one step at a time or else I won't get anywhere at all! Thank you! :)
